Green Arrow Tetra (Bryconadenos tanaothoros)

The Green Arrow Tetra is a striking freshwater fish native to the slow-moving streams and tributaries of South America, particularly found in the Amazon basin. These small, elegant tetras are prized by aquarists for their vibrant coloring and peaceful temperament.

Origin

Green Arrow Tetras inhabit densely vegetated areas with dark substrates and slightly acidic waters in their natural habitat. They prefer environments with plenty of plants and moderate water flow, where they school in small groups.

Care Guide

Tank Setup: Maintain a minimum 20-gallon aquarium with plenty of live plants and driftwood. Dim lighting helps enhance their natural colors.

Water Conditions: Keep temperature between 72-78°F, pH 5.5-7.0, and soft to slightly acidic water. Weekly 25% water changes support optimal health.

Diet: Feed high-quality micro pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods like daphnia and brine shrimp.

Compatibility: These peaceful schooling fish thrive in groups of 6 or more. House with other small, non-aggressive community fish.

Behavior: Green Arrow Tetras are active swimmers that spend most of their time in mid-water levels. Provide hiding spots among plants for security.

Lifespan: With proper care, they typically live 4-6 years in captivity.
